I have heard from a source that Carly Selvig has committed today to play for her uncle Robins Selig at Montana.    This should not come as much of a surprise to anyone, but is this the first domino to fall!

I will have more later

Griz recruit: Dau Jok

jok

I have heard that the Griz coaching staff is recruiting Dau Jok from Des Moines Roosevelt high school in Iowa. Jok is a 6-3 shooting guard who is know as a 3 point shooter who has almost unlimited range, and as one reporter put it, has never met a 3 point shot that he didn’t like.

Jok averaged 14 points, 2 assist, and 2 steals a game and was named first team CMIL Metro All Conference. Roosevelt placed 2 players on the first team, and another as an honorable mentioned team, as Roosevelt high school was named the surprise team of the year.

Bobcat recruit: Brandon Freeman

freemanThe final Cameron Yoeman high school that I have heard that the Bobcat football staff is looking at is wide receiver/ defensive back prospect Brandon Freeman. Freeman is a 5-11, 160 jumping jack with a 35” vertical jump. He recently was also timed also with a 4.7, 40 time.

I was not able to find his receiving stats for this past season, but he actually seems to be the guy getting the most attention on Yoe high school’s team. He is a two year first team all 3A-24.

Bobcat FB recruit: Steven Townsend

townsend

Another Cameron Yoeman high school athlete that Rob Ash’s staff is recruiting is Steven Townsend. Townsend is a two year started for Yoe High school, located in Texas, at the quarterback position. For those two years he has also been named first team All #A-24 district.

The 6-0, 185 pound Townsend completed 100 of 170 passes for 1,644 yards and 21 touchdowns and also rushed for 665 yards and 10 TDs in nine games in 2008, and led the Yoe high school team to a 3A championship.

Odds and Ends – 6/29/09

mslacat1It is looking like most of my “Odds and Ends”, are becoming a Monday ritual for me. I don’t know if this is completely on purpose, but Monday’s always seem to be good for them. Seven days to collect them and then the first day after the week-end to regurgitate them. For some reason though they seem to be fan favorites and the most viewed on any given week, so Mondays they are. I do though reserve the right to post at any time I feel like it.

Bobcat FB recruit: James Wells

wells

It appears that the Montana State Bobcat staff are really looking over and recruiting the Cameron Yoeman high school In Cameron Texas. I hear there are a group of players that the coaching staff is currently recruiting.

The first is James Wells a 5-7ish, 168 pound running back prospect. Wells has been the Yoe high school featured running back for the past few season and was named first team all district as a sophomore racking up 1,089 yards rushing and seven scores on 155 carries. His junior year his stats were down some at about 900 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns, and was named second team all 42-3A.

Bobcat Recruit DeLovell Earls

kb0zi2-1128hshoopsI have heard through a source that the Bobcat men’s basketball coaches are recruiting, senior to be, DeLovell Earls of Colorado Springs high school in Colorado. Earls is a 6-5 do everything guard / forward prospect. At one time or another he this past season he played every position for his team, but played mostly the wing for Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs finished the 2008-09 season with a sparkling 23-3 record and a 2AState Championship to boot. For his efforts, Earls was named the 2A player of the year, and the state tournament MVP. He was also one of the top players vying for the State All-Class player of the year award. Earls has been named to the 2A all state team, his freshman, sophomore and Junior year and is looking to make it a clean sweep his senior year.

FB recruit: Bozeman’s Tyler Leep

bozeman-mtI have a football recruit from the state of Montana that I can not definitively link to either Montana State or Montana but is getting a fair amount of attention from two internet recruiting services.

Both Scout.com and ESPN.com have Bozeman’s Tyler Leep rated pretty high in their recruiting databases. Leep is a 5-11 180 pound running back who ran for approximately 500 yards, last season while also racking up 150 yards receiving – these rough totals. Scout.com has him rated as a 2 star prospect and also has him listed as a defensive back prospect.

Bobcat/Griz FB: CMR’s Matt Smith

cmrI have heard that both the Bobcats and Griz are recruiting Great Falls C.M. Russell’s Matt Smith. Smith is a 6-1, 245 pound offensive line prospect, who has been picking up some regional interest as of late.
He recently attended a National Underclassmen Combine in Boise, Idaho, and was considered one of the better O-lineman prospects in the combine. As I understand it National Underclassmen Combines are held/sponsored in many locations across the country every summer.

Bobcat/Griz FB: Senior’s Tyler Miller

tmillerIt seems that the floodgate of information on Montana football recruits has opened just a little bit. Camps or something must be going on. I will have a few more as soon as I can bang them out.

I have heard that both the Bobcats and Griz are recruiting Billings Senior’s Tyler Miller. Miller is a 6-3 230 athlete who played offensive and defensive line for Senior. I believe he is being recruited for the d-line but I am not sure. Smith also runs 4.9 sec. in the 40 yard dash.
