Odds and Ends: 9-29-09

mslacatlogo

It has been a rather busy September for me so sorry for lack of attention on my blog but it is likely to come in spurts for the next month or so. It has also been kind of slow also. Anyway let’s go into Odds and Ends.

  • Grizzly basketball recruit Thomas Frye has named his favorite as Texas Christian University, but I do not believe TCU has offered him yet. His next four are UC Riverside, Eastern Washington, Montana, and Portland State. I am not sure exactly sure what the order of these next four are but I hear Montana is at or near the top of these four. I believe Tinkle has offered Frye.
  • The Bobcat football team are apparently still recruiting K.J. Cusack a 5-9 wide receiver/ / running back / defensive back / athlete from Santa Maria California. He recently reported at Rivals.com that he holds offers from UC Davis, Portland State and Air Force, but Fresno State, San Jose State, Montana State, and Sacramento State are very involved and are expected to offer soon. He is also starting to get interest from Miami of Ohio, Tulane, Washington State, Oregon State and Cincinnati

Odds and ends: 9-15-09

mslacatlogoAnother week and another odds and ends post.

Thurman_Woods_2

  • I have heard that Thurmond Woods, who signed with the Grizzly program last November, will now be attending Santa Ana junior college in California this fall. It sounds like he will need to attend the JC for two years to get his D-1 eligibility, but I am not sure about that. Woods is originally from Dominguez high school in California, and was on the Montana campus this summer. From what I saw of him this summer I thought he had the chance to make an impact on the Griz this year as a true freshman.

Odds and Ends – 7/25/09

mslacatlogo

I could not wait until Monday, this was getting too long.

  • This week end there is a huge basketball AAU tournament in Las Vegas. Actually it is not a single tourney but a group at least three (each sponsored by a shoe company) all scheduled for the same days to Give coaches the Max bang for their travel buck. Additionally there are at least 3 different age groups and they cover both boy’s and girls. Just about every Gym in Las Vegas is being used this week end and there are thousands of basketball players in Vegas. From what I have heard, both MSU and UM have two coaches in Las Vegas, and I believe Binford’s Staff had at least one coach also in Vegas. I have to imagine Selvig had someone down there but I can not confirm.

Bobcat Recruiting: Ben Mills

BenMills2The Bobcats have been recruiting Wisconsin big man Ben Mills for about 18 months, and as he has grown so has his recruitment. When the Bobcats started recruiting Ben Mills he was a skinny 6-7 power forward / center, he now has sprouted to skinny 7 footer, with an 8 foot wing span. It appears that he has not yet stopped growing, Mills just finished up his junior year for Arrowhead high school in Hartland Wisconsin. Last year Mills averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 block a game. His final game of the year he exploded for 25 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for Arrowhead.
