I have heard that the Bobcat Basketball coaches have offered 2011 prospect C.J. Cooper from La Verne Lutheran High in La Verne California. Cooper is a 6-0 ish 165 junior point guard for La Verne Lutheran and has been a starter since his freshman year.
If La Verne Lutheran high school sounds familiar to you (and it is OK if does not) it is the same school that Bobcat 2010 commit Jordan Salley attends. According to the LA Times earlier this year La Verne Lutheran has 6 to 8 players that they feel, will eventually go on to play D-1 ball, including 6-8 Grant Jerrett, who is ranked in the top 100 players nationally as a sophomore. This team also has only a single senior among its top 9 players, and that senior is Jordan Salley who is not playing this year due to a knee injury. Currently La Verne Lutheran has a 9-0 conference record and 15-8 over all record. Not bad for a private school with a total enrolment of 150 students.
This season Cooper is averaging 17 points, 6 assist, 2 rebounds 2 steals a game while shooting 53% from the field, 41% beyond the three point arc, and 75% the charity stripe. His high game of the season was a game where he scored 25 points, dished out 15 assist and had 6 steals in a single game that said though, the competition in that game was not very good and La Verne California did run up the score.
Last season as a sophomore he had similar stats, although slightly lower across the board, and was named Arrowhead League MVP, for the season. His teammate Grant Jerrett though is expected to take that award this year, as he leads the league in scoring and rebounding.
