Griz Recruit: Nick Arenz

I understand that Montana head basketball coach Wayne tinkle and assistant Freddie Owens were in Onalaska Wisconsin recently to scout junior Nick Arenz of Onalaska high school. Arenz is a 6-8 forward/center who is projected as a Combo forward in college.

Arenz has started for Onalaska since his freshman year, where he averaged 11 points a game. Last season he averaged 13 points and 9 rebounds, and was named All-Tribune first-team player and AP All-State honorable mention selection.

Since last year he has grown two inches and could have a little more height in him. He still need to fill out his frame but is still a solid low post player, and can also shoot the three ball. This summer he had a medical scare with a collapse lung and some related issues with toxic shock. He is doing much better now and should be 100 % by the time the season starts.
