West Coast Hoops Reports is reporting that the Montana Grizzly staff is recruiting Antonio Worthy of Montebello high school in the Long Beach area of California. I think it is safe to say Worthy is a true big man at 6-11 and tipping the scales any where from 270-300 pounds. Worthy will be entering his junior season, this coming year at Montebello, so will be part of the 2011 recruiting class.
I do not have Worthy’s official stats from last year, but he lead Montebello in scoring averaging approximate 14 points and 12 rebounds a game while shooting 50% from the field. He has started every game since his freshman year, and is not afraid to use his size to get his advantage. As a freshman he was listed as a 6-8 300 pounds, and this past year (his sophomore year) he was listed 6-10 and 300 pounds, but has lost about 20 pounds and is now listed at 6-11 280. He played well enough this summer that he has caught the eye of quite a few D-1 programs, but his weight will be the key element to his recruitment.
