A few weeks back MtTarheel over on Egriz asked me if I knew anything about Griz recruit Kyle Noreen. Noreen was one of the very first recruits in the 2011 class that I had heard the Griz were looking at well over a year ago. While his name consistently on most of the Griz recruiting list I could not remember seeing information that still linked the Griz with the Noreen. So I decided to do a little research, and it appears that Mr. Noreen is still very much interested in Wayne Tinkles Griz program.
Just to bring everyone up to speed, Kyle Noreen is a 6-5 small forward from Minnesota Transitions high school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Minnesota Transitions high school is a small private school that has been tearing up the Minnesota small school division Kyle and his older brother, Kevin, started attending the school. Kevin Noreen, a 6-10 forward, was the 2010 Minnesota Mr. Basketball as well as ending his career as the all time scorer in Minnesota prep history. He eventually signed with West Virginia. One would think with your older brother averaging 39 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots per game, there would not be much available for little brother Kyle. Kyle though did a respectable 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and a block a game. Look for Kyle’s numbers to take off next season as he becomes the focus of Minnesota Transitions offense.
Kyle is projected as to play the small forward spot but in college but it would not surprise me at all if he ended up played the shooting guard spot for some teams. He is a very good three point shooter, but can post up smaller players. He also has good court vision and an excellent passer – with his brother being the main recipient of his passing.
