Bobcat Spring recruiting: Davion Pearson

The Bobcat men appear to be hitting the JC Ranks pretty heavily this winter looking for player to sign this spring. It is not exclusively JC player, but of the high school players they are looking at are they are the type that could come in and contribute right away. They also seem to be looking at primarily guards who can score but again there are a few post guys I have heard about.

The Bobcats signed two players in the spring, and have 3 seniors on the roster this year which would leave you to believe that they have one scholarship to offer, but as I have said before a team always seems to loose one or two additional player(s) each spring, so I expect them to sign at least two players this spring. Here are the guys who I have heard rumors that they are looking at.

Davion Pearson 5-11 Combo Guard
Arizona College Prep
16 points, 6 assist, 5 rebounds a game
Year of eligibility: 4 years + redshirt

Recruiting Notes:Pearson is a guy to seriously keep an eye on. The Bobcats have been recruiting him for 3 or so years. Originally last spring he committed to Santa Clara over the Bobcats, but ran into an SAT/ACT problem. He then had a falling out with Santa Clara. Rumor has it Coach Huse and Starr found a spot for him at Az. Col Prep this fall, to work on his test scores. He recently got qualifying SAT score and will an eligible to play as a true freshman next fall.

Bobcats recruit: Davion Pearson

I have heard that the Bobcat basketball staff is recruiting Davion Pearson from Palo Verde high school near Las Vegas, Nevada. Pearson is a 5-11 (ish) 175 pound senior point guard for Palo Verde, one of the top high school teams in the State.

Palo Verde feature 3 D-1 prospects including 6-6 forward Moses Mogan who signed in November with DePaul. Palo Verde main conference rival is Cheyenne high school who features Montana State signee Chris McCall. McCall and Pearson have been playing against each other for the past four years and have played together quite a bit in AAU ball.

Pearson is averaging 10 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds a game while shooting 40% from the fields, 27% from beyond 3 point line and 68% from the charity stripe. This year Pearson’s scoring numbers are down a little this year as he moved full time to the point guard but he has had a couple very big scoring nights this year with a couple 25 point games.
