I have heard from a couple sources that Tricia Binford and her Montana State Bobcat coaching staff are recruiting Jazmine Davis of Valley Christian high school in San Jose, California. The 5-8 Davis is projected by most to be play the point guard spot in college but with her shooting ability I could also see her playing some at the shooting guard spot for the Bobcats, if that is where she ends up.
While I do not have Davis’s complete statistics for last year, I believe she averaged 14 points and 4 assists a game while shooting close to 50% from the both 2 and 3 point range. In the stats I saw she actually was shooting slightly better from three point range than 2 point range. She was named West Catholic Athletic League honorable mention as a sophomore and second team as a junior. Look for her stats to really take off this year as she becomes the focus of Valley Christian’s offense.
She is a true point guard but has out standing range and can score the ball from a variety of ways.
ESPN / GurlzHoops has given her a 92 rating and identified her as the 25th rated 2011 point guard in the nation. Unfortunately they did not have any type of evaluation on her.
