FB recruit: Bozeman’s Tyler Leep

bozeman-mtI have a football recruit from the state of Montana that I can not definitively link to either Montana State or Montana but is getting a fair amount of attention from two internet recruiting services.

Both Scout.com and ESPN.com have Bozeman’s Tyler Leep rated pretty high in their recruiting databases. Leep is a 5-11 180 pound running back who ran for approximately 500 yards, last season while also racking up 150 yards receiving – these rough totals. Scout.com has him rated as a 2 star prospect and also has him listed as a defensive back prospect.

ESPN gave him a 72 rating and had the following evaluation of Leep:

Prospect. Evaluation:

Leep is a very competitive football player that possesses solid skills. He is a lean player that runs harder than his physical size. Leep has good speed and quickness for the competition. As an I formation tailback displays good vision along with showing the ability to follow his lead blockers through the hole then break to daylight. Shows the talent to make lateral cuts quickly and elude tacklers. Often makes the first defender miss when running the football and on kickoff returns. Catches the ball coming out of the backfield on swing routes and when going vertical on the seam route. Catches the ball in a crowd and is willing to take a hit to make the play. A tough ball carrier that can lower his shoulders when necessary to pick up extra yardage. Plays the game with intensity and great effort. Leep is a solid football player that is a gifted skilled athlete that is steady and productive.

Like I said I can not find any information on if the Bobcats or Griz are recruiting him, nor any other schools for that matter, nor any information on who he may be interested in. One would have to guess though if he is as strong of a prospect as Scout and ESPN seem to indicate that they would be interested.
