Josh Huestis Update

huestis3This past week-end westcoasthoopsreport.com had the following article entitled Super Sleeper 2010 Josh Huestis. Westcoasthoopsreport.com is a relatively new Internet recruiting site. It does require you to register to use the site, they do not charge any subscription fees, although I am expecting that to change.

After reading this article I am really beginning to think that Josh is going to be following the trajectory of Wyoming’s James Johnson in 2007. When all is said and done I am getting the feeling that the chances of him playing for Montana State or Montana is slim to none, still though it is great to see a Montana kid get this type of attention and publicity. Once again Josh good luck, how ever this turns out.

Super Sleeper 2010 Josh Huestis

A number of players have boosted their stock tremendously with their play this summer but none have been more impressive than 2010 Josh Huestis from the state of Montana.

The first time we saw Huestis play was at Pangos Summer Sweet 16 and we were blown away by what we saw.
Here was a player that was strong enough to bang inside, yet skilled enough to play either forward spot; an effortless scorer that was an equally dominant defender; a kid that could handle it ,shoot , finish, rebound, and block shots all while not trying, LOL.

Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but there was no doubt that the player that we were watching was the total package …even if we’d never heard of him ( how a talent like this slips through the cracks is beyond me. I mean, just this past season, he was one of the top players in Montana as a junior, for crying out loud!).
We spoke with the 6’7 220 pound athlete after a game and he told us that although he had a number of mid-major scholarship offers and had received some high major attention, he had yet to receive a high major offer.

“Just wait , young man… your going to have plenty

Great for Josh! We all know and love him here in Great Falls and he is just plain ol’ Josh to all of us! He is a great kid and quite the tease! We were disappointed when he quit playing football because is an outstanding athlete and can excell in any sport he plays. He has never been a sleeper in our eyes – I think he just finally got the opportunity to shine.

While I will agree with you that for most of the nation Josh has been, the sleeper prospect of this past summer, I think it is safe to say that he was no sleeper to those of us in Montana who knew the quality of a player and person Josh was on and off the court.

Where ever he ends up I know that the folks here in Montana wish him the best, and will be following him.

Although some would say that I certainly am a little bias……………..since I am Joshua’s grandmother…………..I’m thrilled to see that Joshua is finally getting some recognition in places outside of Montana……………..you all refer to him as a “Sleeper”……………too Montana and his family he’s been a “Super Star” with unlimited potential for several years……………..that exceptional athletic ability is in his genes “Poncho Hodges”……..and was recognized early on by his mother………………………Poncho has been in Joshua’s life from birth but……………….thanks to the graciousness of his mother she has allowed Poncho………his uncle Quincey Hodges and good friend Byron……………..to allow the basketball world to see what we’ve seen for years!……………………Joshua is a 4.0 student…………..a wonderful young man who doesn’t smoke……….drink …………..or…………do drugs………………bias…………….yes…….maybe just a little……….but I know a coaches dream when I see one…………and that would be my grandson “Joshua Huestis”.
