Bobcat MBB Spring 2011 Jarrell Crayton

Here is the second prospect from Sheridan JC that the Bobcats have shown an interest in this fall.  Sheridan should – grades willing- put 4 player off this years team in D-1 ball by next fall, and have been ranked in the top 25 most of the season.

Jarrell Crayton 6-7 power forward
Sheridan JC WY
15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 61% field goal, 32% 3pt field goal, 68% free-throw
Years of eligibility: 2 years

Recruiting Notes: Crayton had plenty of D-1 interest out of high school but had to go the JC route and enrolled at Sheridan. I have heard that the Bobcat coaching staff has expressed an interest him but I am not sure if the are actively recruiting him or offered him. He is currently getting a fair amount of D-1 interest right now with Fresno St, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, Boise State, Idaho, and Ohio considered to be the favorites.

Player Summary: Crayton is a very athletic combo forward who has three point range. Think of a crass between Bobby Howard and Tre Johnson.

Colleges Interested: Fresno St, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, Boise State, Idaho, and Ohio University, Portland State, Bradley, High Point and Albany

Die hard Griz fan and just stumbled over your site. Great stuff! I am living in Sheridan, Wyo and have watched Sheridan College (SC) many times. Crayton is an OK player. Has a tendency to disappear at times. He’s real thin, but athletic. As a Griz fan, I’m glad they didn’t recruit him. I see you have the Cats also having commits from Lippert and Kreigereit (spelling). Lippert is by far better if the two players. Good body and all around offensive skills. Kreigereit is nothing special. I can’t remember when he last played a minute. He can’t even steal minutes from a 5’11” one dimensional shooter from Glendo, Wyoming on the SC squad. Again, glad Griz didn’t recruit either of these two kids. Best player on SC team is Omar McDade. If he had interest in Missoula, and they had room on the team, I’d take him in a heartbeat.
