Bobcat Recruit Reggie Shaw

I have heard the Bobcats Men’s program is recruiting Reggie Shaw from Snow junior college in Utah. Shaw is a 6-3 shooting guard who played his high school ball at Desert Pines high school in Las Vegas Nevada.

At Desert Pines Shaw averaged 14 points a game as a junior and 15 points a game as a senior. I do not have any other stats for his high school years but as I understand it he really improved or added a solid three point shot between his junior and senior year. For his efforts he was named to the All-Sunrise Region and Northeast Division first team both his junior and senior year. He was also ranked as one of the Top 10 (7th to be exact) 2009 basketball prospects in the state Nevada by Scout.com and a top 20 2009 basketball prospects in the nation also by Scout.com. ESPN gave him an 86 rating.

At Snow Junior College, last year Shaw played with current Griz Jordan Wood and averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists while shooting 41% from the field, 34% from beyond the three point arc and 68% from the free throw line.

Shaw is a very long and athletic player who has made a reputation as a penetrator and slasher. He has a nice three point shot, but a lot of time used that to open up penetrating opportunities for him. On the defensive side of the ball he uses his long arms to harass other guards and disrupt the passing lanes. He does not get a lot of steals but he does get a lot of deflections. He can play a little out of control at times but has been improving on that along with his three point shooting steadily. He is not a point guard.

The only other team that I have heard that is looking at him is Weber State, but others are involved. I got this information before the commitment of Jamie Stewart of Henry Ford junior college broke earlier this week so I do not know how this affects the Bobcats interest. As far as I know I do not think the Bobcat’s have offered him or invited for a campus visit.
