Odds and Ends 9-23-10

I have not gone on another extended holiday, I have just been slammed the past week. Hopefully by next Monday I will back and running and finally finish the my basketball previews with The Lady Griz

  • During these times when I get bogged down in real world stuff, if you need a recruiting fix check out my Twitter to get your fix. Typically I will post rumors as I hear them and ahead of the blog, while I do my research.
  • If you were following my Twitter feed you would have heard that Montana State men’s basketball has offered Brandan Walton a 6-2 guard from Casper Junior College and Reggie Shaw from Snow Junior College in Utah. I will have more info on both these guys here on my blog when I get a little more time.
  • Former Bobcat walk-on point guard Brian Louff, who left the program this past spring has transferred to Clark College a NAIA basketball program located in Iowa. Louff will be on scholarship at Clark College and is close to where he played his junior college ball.

  • Mark Lewis of ESPN / HoopGurlz had a very interesting article on how college coaches are using Twitter/facebook and other forms of social media in their recruiting and scouting of potential prospects. Also check out the list Recruiting Advice articles on the right hand side of the articles. There are close to 40 separate articles there and cover a wide range of topics, that any parent who has a kid who is interested in playing college ball should check out.
  • Point guard Jordan Gregory, from Pueblo Colorado East high school will be visiting the University Montana campus for an official trip for Home Coming September 24th and 25th. He will be at Northern Arizona on October 2nd and was at the University of Denver this week end. Gregory is favored to be named the Colorado Mr. Basketball this coming season and I am told is a high priority target for the Griz. I also hear the Griz have another high priority target in the week end but I do not know who that may be.
  • I have been updating the football recruiting list despite my absence. To the Griz I have added a few quarterbacks and running back along with a couple line men. For the Bobcats I have also added a couple running backs as well as a couple defensive back. Additionally I have up dated the offers of a few players.
