Griz recruit: Miles Chamberlain

I have the name of another Wisconsin basketball recruit, which appears to be getting a fair amount of attention from the Grizzly men’s basketball program. The name of the recruit is Miles Chamberlain from Madison Memorial high school in Madison, Wisconsin. Madison was ranked as one of the top 25 basketball teams in the nation by most of the nation rankings for most of the season last year, and is expected to one of the top teams next year depending on who on their teams transfers this year.

Chamberlain is a 6-4 basketball player who has played every where from point guard to the post for Memorial. For his sophomore season he played mostly in the post, but last year he played mainly the point and shooting guard spots. For his senior season he is expected to play more at the small and power forward spot for Memorial. For his Wisconsin Starz AAU team he plays mainly the shooting guard and small forward spot and that is where he is expected to play in college.

I have not been able to dig up his junior season stats from memorial, but The Wisconsin Sports Network has him ranked as the number 37th college prospect in the country.

I understand that Chamberlain is also a pretty decent baseball pitcher and first base prospect, but he hopes to play basketball in college.

Here are is an evaluation from Ryan James of GopherIllustrated.com from this summer.

At 6-foot-4 Miles Chamberlain was just too much for smaller guards Thursday. The standout from Madison Memorial wore defenders down with his size and whenever he saw an opening he used his skill to beat defenders to the paint. From there Chamberlain either hit pull-ups or runners, attacked the hole absorbing contact to finish, or he dropped off beautiful dimes for cutting teammates to finish uncontested. Chamberlain’s combo of skill and size ate opposing guards alive.

Here is a short blurb from the Wisconsin Sports Network

Versatile perimeter player who can play either guard spot or small forward. Excellent combination of skill, size and strength.

Chamberlain is an outstanding student and receiving recruiting interest from Army, Missouri State, Montana, Nevada and Northwestern. He holds an offer from Army.
