Griz recruit: Haki Stampley

If you have been following my twitter account this is old news, but I have more info that the 140 characters that I posted a few weeks back.

I have heard that The Montana grizzly basketball staff is recruiting Haki Stampley of Hamilton high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Grizzly assistant coach Freddie Owens has been heading up the recruitment of Stampley, with his connections in the Milwaukee area. Stampley’s plays for the Milwaukee Running Rebels AAU team which is coached Gary Waters, who was also Owens’s AAU coach.

Stampley is a 6-4 180 pound shooting guard /small forward prospect. I do not have Stampley’s official statistics but I believe he averaged around 8 points a game for Hamilton. He was named 2009 BOC All-League First Team and Milwaukee All City Honorable Mention Team for his efforts. He is listed as the 35th best college prospect in Wisconsin according to Wisconsin Sports Network (Wissports.net). He should move up the rankings, with his play this summer, when the new rankings are released.

Hamilton high school has 4 players listed in the Wisconsin Sports Network top 40 including #2 6-6 F Elgin Cook, #4 6-8 Darnell Harris, #6 5-9 Charles Lee and #35 Haki Stampley

Stampley is still growing and is listed some places at 6-5. He is an athletic player with good length who is also an outstanding shooter. He is projected as a shooting guard in college but for the Griz could alls see a lot of time at the small forward.

Here are a few Evaluations of Stampley

6-4 2011 SG Haki Stampley of Milwaukee Hamilton (WI) has seen interest pick up in this long sharpshooting off guard over the past few weeks. Stampley just wrapped up a solid summer campaign with the Milwaukee Running Rebels grassroots travel program.

2011 SG Haki Stampley (Lakers)
Arguably his best BOC performance in 2 years. A lethal young perimeter shooting talent, Stampley was efficient and aggressive at the same time and it translated into an excellent effort on both ends of the floor. He got out and finished in transition, hit a few jump shots, attacked the boards, and more importantly he didn’t force bad shots but rather he let the game come to him and scored his baskets inside the flow of the game. Was solid on both ends and made some big plays down the stretch to help his team to victory. Excellent showing for the Milwaukee Hamilton standout yesterday

I am told that Montana, Northern Colorado and Missouri State are all currently recruiting Stampley very hard right now. I believe Northern Colorado has offered but Montana has not yet.
