I have heard that the Montana Grizzly football staff is recruiting Cody McCarthy from Bishop Kelly high school near Boise Idaho. McCarthy is a 6′-1″ 220 pound middle line backer prospect, and is considered by many to be the top Football recruit from the State of Idaho. While McCarthy is primarily known for his performance as a line backer, as is often the case he has played just about every position on the field for Bishop Kelly.
As a junior last season Kelly racked up 165 tackles (115 solo) to go along with 2 interceptions, 8.5 sacks, a blocked punt, 12 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries. He currently holds Bishop Kelly’s records in single game tackles (24), season tackles (159) and all-time tackles (359) and will be looking to improve on those numbers this fall. For his efforts was he was named First Team All-State Linebacker, and Southern Idaho Conference Defensive Player of the Year. During last summer’s camping season he was named 2009 Nike Football Training Camp-Eugene LB MVP and 2009 All-Poly Football Camp LB MVP.
Oh yea he has started every game for Bishop Kelly since his freshman year.
Stat wise McCarthy has a reported best 40 time of 4.6 and shuttle time of 4.0. with a 35 inch vertical jump.
Here is a short evaluation from last season Eugene NIKE Camp.
Out of an athletic group of linebackers, Boise (Idaho) Bishop Kelly’s Cody McCarthy emerged as the MVP. This unit was the most intense and physically impressive. McCarthy’s performance was among the best at any position.
Currently I hear McCarthy holds offers Army, Montana and Washington State, but a wide variety of schools are recruiting him including, Boise State, Colorado, Idaho, Idaho State, Oregon, Oregon State, Ohio State, Stanford, Washington, Texas Tech, and Wyoming
