I have heard that both the Bobcat and grizzly football coaching staffs are recruiting Tyler Rutt from Hamilton high school in Chandler Arizona. Rutt is a 6-0 195 pound outside linebacker but because of his height may end up playing the safety position in college. Hamilton high school went undefeated in 2009 and won it’s second strait 5A championship.
For his junior year Rutt had 48 unassisted tackles, 64 assisted tackles 5 sacks, 6 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries. For his efforts Rutt earned second-team all-region and honorable mention all-state honors.
Rutt runs a 4.67 40 yard dash and has a 28 inch vertical. In the weight room he has a maximum 265 pound bench and a maximum 350 pound squat
Here is an evaluation from last fall.
Tyler Rutt (Class of 2011) isn’t under the radar at powerhouse Chandler Hamilton, where the linebacker was catalyst to last year’s 14-0 season.
But he’s flying way under the radar with colleges because he is only 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. But Rutt could play safety or corner in college. He is fast, quick, a vicious hitter, a leader on and off the field. He has great respect from his teammates.
He is fearless and smart. He knows where to be on the field. He doesn’t over-anticipate. He is good at avoiding blocks and making the hit.
Hamilton defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Lane Reynolds said Idaho, Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona and Wyoming have shown interest.
Currently I am hearing that Air Force, Army, Boise State, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Oregon State and Wyoming
