Griz recruit: Riley Carel

I have heard that the Griz basketball coaching staff is looking at Riley Carel from Enumclaw high school in Washington. Carel a 6-2 180 pound senior point guard for Enumclaw high school, which is currently ranked #1 in the Washington 3A prep ranks. Enumclaw runs a very balanced offensive attack with 4 players who have double digit point averages.

Carel is averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assist, 3 steals a game while shooting 50% from the field, and 40% from beyond the three point arc. I am told he has deep three point range but is also strong enough to post up weaker guards. He is more of a hustle point guard than a speed kid. Has really built a reputation this year on the basketball court and the football field where he plays quarterback, as a player who has the big game or hits the big play when his team needs it.

As a junior he was named Washington’s SPSL 3A MVP, and has a chance to win that honor again this year.

Bobcat Recruit: C.J. Cooper

I have heard that the Bobcat Basketball coaches have offered 2011 prospect C.J. Cooper from La Verne Lutheran High in La Verne California. Cooper is a 6-0 ish 165 junior point guard for La Verne Lutheran and has been a starter since his freshman year.

If La Verne Lutheran high school sounds familiar to you (and it is OK if does not) it is the same school that Bobcat 2010 commit Jordan Salley attends. According to the LA Times earlier this year La Verne Lutheran has 6 to 8 players that they feel, will eventually go on to play D-1 ball, including 6-8 Grant Jerrett, who is ranked in the top 100 players nationally as a sophomore. This team also has only a single senior among its top 9 players, and that senior is Jordan Salley who is not playing this year due to a knee injury. Currently La Verne Lutheran has a 9-0 conference record and 15-8 over all record. Not bad for a private school with a total enrolment of 150 students.

This season Cooper is averaging 17 points, 6 assist, 2 rebounds 2 steals a game while shooting 53% from the field, 41% beyond the three point arc, and 75% the charity stripe. His high game of the season was a game where he scored 25 points, dished out 15 assist and had 6 steals in a single game that said though, the competition in that game was not very good and La Verne California did run up the score.

Last season as a sophomore he had similar stats, although slightly lower across the board, and was named Arrowhead League MVP, for the season. His teammate Grant Jerrett though is expected to take that award this year, as he leads the league in scoring and rebounding.

Malware #*%@ Sucks

******** Off Topic Alert ********

About a week and half ago my computer got slammed with massive malware infections. For those who do not know malware is any type of program or virus loaded on to your computer usually though the internet that you do not want ad can screw up your computer.

Now I before I get into this I want to talk a little bit about some of the Anti-virus/spyware programs the majority of us have on our computer .. good luck! Since about 1995 I have protected most of my computers with Norton Anti virus, but it bogs down my computers terribly. About 18 months ago I switched to McAfee anti virus the other big name in consumer Anti Virus. My computer’s performance improved 2 fold after I did this and I have been using it ever since.

Now when I went to purchase my McAfee anti Virus, much like Norton, they had three levels of product, with each version costing about ten dollars more in each step up in protection. Now to me it was kind of like asking you if you wanted to buy condoms with big holes, little holes, or no holes. So I went with their product called “Total Protection” product. I thought the description was pretty self explanatory.

So back to my story..
