Prospect Update: Little, Autry, Trujeque

I have a couple, well actually three updates on some basketball prospects that have either signed or committed to the Montana State of Montana.

Danny Little 6’8” 2011
Earlier this week I posted an article on Billings Skyview center and Montana State basketball commit Danny Little, being named athlete of the week by a local TV station. I should have waited a day because that night Little went out and had his best game as a high school player against Laurel high school. The 6-foot-8 little scored 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots while shooting 75% from the field and he hit all 4 of his free throws. A friend of mine was at that game (as well as a couple others of Skyview’s games this season) and gave his evaluation of Little’s game. He feels Little is just starting to get comfortable with his role as the main man in the middle. He has really evolved quite a bit this summer. Little reminds him a lot of former Hellgate/Griz player Matt Kempfert at this point in his development. Little has not shown quite the mid range game of Kempfert at the same age but Little is a much better interior intimidator / shot blocker. Both players move very similarly in the post. He thinks, Little still has to develop a killer instinct, but after watching him last Thursday, he is figuring it out.

Jerica Williams of CaliforniaPreps.com (part of the Rivals.com network) recently did a series of evaluations on players and teams participating in a tournament called the 1st annual California Classic. Two players with connections to Montana State and Montana were playing in the tournament and Mr. Williams provided these two evaluations for Montana Signee and current Serra high school player Vaughn Autry and Montana State signee and current Price high school player Casey Trujeque. Here is what he had to say.

#3 Vaughn Autry 6’2″ 2010
Signed with Montana. A solid guard with a very good jump shot, midrange and 3 point. Fairly good passer with good vision. Likes to drive and dish in his aggression to the basket. Is a hustler on defense.

#31 Casey Trujeque 5’7″ 2010
All around great point guard who is smart and knows how to run his team. Makes great decisions with the ball. Likes to attack and pass, is a 3 point threat, and has a very good pull up. Pushes the tempo of the game and is always under control. Trujeque signed early with Montana State.
