Bobcat Recruit: Fred Blow

#9 Freddie Blow

I have heard that the Bobcat football staff are recruiting and have offered Fed Blow (also known as Freddie Blow) from Atascocita high school in Humble, Texas. Blow is a 5-10 165 pound defensive back prospect, who also saw action in high school as a running back, wide receiver and kick returner. It is possible he may seem some action in college as a return specialist.

This past season, Blow finished with 47 tackles this season, along with 3 interceptions. On offense he had only a few carries and receptions but nothing of real note. Ob special teams as a kick off returner he averaged 27 yards on nine returns. He was named all conference first teams and Academic All-State.

Here is what Scout.com had to say about Blow:

Solid size for a safety, his speed is average for the position. What stands out is his discipline at playing the position, he does not tend to bite on fakes and knows how to play his spot. Because of this he is always in position on reverses and trick plays. He is a solid tackler, not great, but not bad either.

They also identify his strengths as his instincts , size, and tackling ability. His areas of improvement were his closing speed and blitzing ability. The thing to remember about all of their comments is that they are rating him on what it will take to be successful at the D-1 Bowl Division level.

He currently hold offers from and will be visiting Montana State (1/15/2010), Army (1/29/2010) and Northwestern State (01/8/2010) additionally he holds offers also from Navy, Army, Bryant and North Dakota State. He also has received additional recruiting interest from 5-6 other schools. Navy, if their offer is still good, I am told, seems to be his favorite, as a very good friend and team mate has already committed their.
