The Weeks Calendar: 12-28-09

Well it is conference time and the season gets fully underway this week with a full slate of games for all four programs. What the men have to be happy about is that thanks to the holidays and a TV game they do not have to worry about the Friday / Saturday schedule quite yet and that is good because the men are on the road.

On the women’s side the MSU women will start the Friday / Saturday schedule at home While the Lady Griz will squeeze in a game versus UC Riverside, before taking on only a single Big Sky Conference team this week – Weber State.

This Weeks Calendar

Tuesday – December 29th

Lady Griz host UC Riverside
UC Riverside will come into Missoula after losing a 12 point game two day’s earlier to the Montana State women. Riverside is going to being a quick, and athletic team into Missoula and that could give the lady Griz some problems, but is a team the lady Griz should be able to handle.

Thursday – December 31st

Bobcat Men at Weber State
Weber was the preseason pick by just about everyone to win the league, the Bobcat’s fifth. Weber has struggled a little in the pre conference season, but they are a very talented team, so do not take them lightly. A win by the Bobcats would be huge, a loss not that big of a hurt. Still though if the Bobcats want to be considered a conference contender they have to make it a game. BTW this game will be played 5:00 so do not miss it.

Grizzly Men at Idaho State
Idaho State is a team that makes me nervous, they did not have a very successful pre-conferenceconference and one of the toughest in the country. This has some of the best talent in the league, if they put it together at home look out. campaign but they played the toughest schedule in the

Friday – January 1st

Montana State Women host Weber State
In their first game conference game of the season the Bobcats get Weber at home. Montana State has the best pre-Conference record coming into the game while Weber is on a 4 game losing streak. A loss would really hurt the Bobcat’s conference crown hopes.

Saturday – January 2nd

Bobcat Women host Idaho State
Unlike most Friday/Saturday scheduling scenarios the Bobcat women will be the tired team in this match up. This is Idaho State’s first game in the Montana State/Montana road swing, and the Bobcats will have played Weber the night before. MSU’s depth will be tested.

Grizzly Men at Weber State
The Griz have already lost a game to a potential conference front runner N. Colorado, so they can not afford to get behind this early to another. Still though it is a road game a great opportunity for a road break though, a road loss is not a game killer.

Lady Griz host Weber State
Weber will be coming off a game in Bozeman the night before and the lady Griz will be very well rested. The Lady Griz will be looking to remind folks that they have owned this league for the past 30 years, do not even think about taking us lightly.

Sunday – January 3rd

Bobcat Men at Idaho State
This is a TV game so it was moved to Sunday. It is though, nice opportunity for the Bobcats to get a road breakthrough. Like I said before I do not take Idaho State lightly, but the Bobcats are going to get a three day rest between road games. It is an opportunity, but not a guarantee.
