I have heard that Rob Ash and his Montana State football coaching staff has offered William Poehls from Chandler, Arizona. Poehls is a massive 6-8 310 pound offensive lineman who is getting a wide variety of attention. Interestingly enough he also has been used as a short yardage running back on a few occasions, in a “Refrigerator Perry” type situation.
Poehls is more than a big body, he also a pretty good athlete. Last year in addition to football, he was the #4th ranked heavy Weight wrestler in Arizona’s 5A division. He runs a 5.7 40 yard dash, has a 20” vertical and a 7 foot broad jump
As a junior he was first-team all-region and second-team all-state by the Arizona Republic, and as a senior is first team all state on every team you can think of. ESPN gives him a 74 ranking and ranks him as the #152 O-Lineman in the country.
Poehls is a big strong player who has the size to play tackle. At this stage of his career he is a better run blocker but displays an understanding of pass protection. May eventually move to guard but would begin his career at right tackle
Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Northern Arizona, San Diego State Nebraska, and California are also showing interest in Poehls, but Montana State is the only school that I have heard has offered him.
