I have heard that Both the Montana Grizzly’s and the Montana State Bobcat’s coaching staffs are recruiting John Kanongata’a from Bellevue, Washington. Kanongata’a is a 5-11 215 pound inside linebacker prospect who was recently named league’s defensive player of the year and also earned first-team all-state honors for this past season.
Here are some quotes from his High school coach
At the end of last season, Goncharoff said Kanongata’a was playing as well as anyone on the team. In Bellevue’s second game this season, he was all over the field against Katy before the injury.
“Everyone looks up to John,” offensive lineman Marcus Henry said. “He’s our biggest hitter, a team leader on defense.”
“John is only 5-foot-10.5, 205-pounds so he is a little undersized,” Goncharoff explained. “But I think wherever he ends up, he is going to be a hell of a player.
“He has incredible instincts and just a great passion to play. He plays hard every play. He is just an amazing football player. He might be 205 pounds now but in a couple years he’ll be 235 pounds and there are going to be a lot of D-1 schools wishing he was playing for them.
“He has great football bloodlines. He has five brothers that have played college football.”
John Kanongata’a is currently being recruited by Colorado, Eastern Washington, Montana, Montana State and Washington State, but he does hold any offers yet.
