I have heard that Montana State football staff is recruiting Timote Pongi of Westview high school in Oregon. Pongi is a 6-3 295 point defensive linemen who has really emerged this year as a strong D-1 prospect. He has cut about 20 pounds from his frame this season and it has really helped speed and quickness. He has been described as one of the best Defensive line prospect in the state of Oregon and yet he is still flying somewhat under the radar right now.
The Bobcat coaches are also recruiting Pongi’s Westview teammates, quarterback Michael Leunen as well as twin offensive linemen Mike Saeks, and Doug Saeks.
ESPN gave him a rating of 72 and had this evaluation.
Pongi is a powerful two way lineman that is extremely strong and can dominate most players when going one on one either side of the football. He is a big and wide bodied lineman that has a leverage advantage because of his build. Gets good initial movement off the line
Pongi might have to go the JC route but is still receiving recruiting interest from Brigham Young, Idaho State, Oregon State, Washington State as well as Montana State.
