Rivals.com is reporting that the Montana State football staff is recruiting Michael Leunen
from Westview high school in Portland Oregon. Leunen is a 6-7 235 pound tight end prospect who also plays defective line. In addition to football he is also considered to be a possible top 25 prospect out of Oregon this year in basketball.
Last year Leunen played for Redmond high school in Portland but transferred this year to Westview. For Redmond he caught 21 passes for 357 yard and two touchdowns. I could not find his stats for this year but he does rank in the top 10 for points scored by players in 6A football.
His physical stats are: Max bench press of 335 pounds, vertical jump of 34 inches, and I believe a 40 time of 4.9. For good measure he also sports a 4.2 GPA.
His older brother Marty was a second round draft choice of the Houston Rockets after playing for U. of Oregon. Is second brother Matt is a senior standout offensive tackle at Portland State.
Leunen currently hold a single offer from Portland State, but Montana State and Stanford are still very much in the picture. Portland State is considered the favorite right now and Leunen has talked to PSU about possibly playing both basketball and football for them. Additionally, Arizona State, California, Harvard and Oregon State have shown an interest in Leunen
