Bobcat & Griz recruit: Shay Smithwick-Hann

I have really gotten behind in football recruiting so I am trying to catch up. I have to props to Corey for the assist on this one.

It is was reported by the News channel 13 on October 21 2009 that the Montana State Bobcats have offered Glacier high school in Kalispell Montana’s Shay Smithwick-Hann. The same article states that the grizzlies were also recruiting 6-4 215 pound quarterback prospect, Smithwick-Hann but as of then had not offered the prospect.

In the article Smithwick-Hann was quoted as saying:

“You don’t want to make decisions too early and you want to talk to your family, and see what’s best for you school wise. But, you know, it’s cool to get that first offer. That’s always exciting,” says Smithwick-Hann.

Maxprep.com lists Smithwick-Hann junior numbers as 144 completions on 283 attempts for a total of 2053 passing yards, and 19 touch downs. He also punted for Glacier and averaged 35 yards a punt on 37 attempts. Smithwick-Hann seems to be putting up similar number so far this year. As of October 30th he has 1,562 yards passing and 575 yards rushing, which ranks him fourth in the state in total offense. He also the second best punter in Class AA, has thrown nine touchdowns and seven interceptions and has eight rushing scores.

Montana and Montana State are the only two schools that I know are recruiting him right now.
