Griz recruit: Joe Ragland

raglandI have heard that Montana Grizzly basketball staff has been recruiting Joe Ragland from North Platte Nebraska Community College. Ragland is a 6-0 combo guard who originally hails from the north east but found hid way down to Nebraska to attend school.

Ragaland was not a very highly recruited player out of high school boasting only a few offers from d-2 schools at the time. Since arriving at North Platte he has created quite the name for himself. Last year he averaged 20.5 points and 4 assist a game while shooting 86 percent from the free throw line and hitting 45 percent of his 3-pointers attempts. He was named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference team, the All-Region IX team, the Region IX All-Tournament team and the Omaha World-Herald’s All-Nebraska second team. Additionally, he was recently named to the pre season NJCAA Division I All-America third team.

Needless to say his recruitment has taken off a little since his high school year. While his size is not ideal for a shooting guard he is receiving a lot of interest currently from D-1 schools like Liberty, San Francisco, Northern Colorado, Rhode Island, Delaware, Lamar Portland State as well Montana

Could be another David Bell, short but capable of using his balls skills to get a shot in spite of his height.
