Bobcat FB recruit: Jim Garoppolo

GaroppoloA couple sources are reporting that Rob Ask and his Montana State Bobcat football program has recently offered Quarter back Jim Garoppolo from Rolling Meadows
high school in Illinois. Garoppolo is a 6’-3” 213 pound dual threat quarterback.

During his junior year Garoppolo led his 7-2 Rolling Meadows team into the Illinois Class 7A playoffs by completing 152 of 253 passes for 2,072 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushing for 552 yards and seven touchdowns. This season his team is currently 7-3 and has completed 124 of 211 passes for 1,733 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushing for 562 yards and seven touchdowns.

EdgyTim.com (part of the Rivals.com network) recently had an interview with Garoppolo and he had the following to say about his recruitment.

“It seems like my recruiting is starting to pick up now. I received a scholarship offer a few weeks ago from Illinois State. I also received an offer from Montana State just a few days ago. It’s great to get offers from both schools. Illinois State has been recruiting me the hardest out of any school and they have been interested in me for quite a long time now. I still need to learn more about Montana State. Our offensive coordinator Coach Henry has a connection to the coaching staff Montana State and he sent them some tape and they really like me. Both schools offered me as a quarterback.”

Rolling Meadows high school coach Doug Millsaps had the following evaluation of Garoppolo.

‘‘Athletically, he is the prototype of what college coaches are looking for in a spread quarterback,’’ he said.

‘‘He has great physical and mental toughness. No quarterback is more elusive or makes better reads or has more arm strength or gets rid of the ball more quickly. And he plays big in big games.’’

While Garoppoli currently hold offers from Montana State and Illinois State, Eastern Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Northern Illinois, Purdue, and Western Michigan are also showing some interest.
