Bobcat Commit Update: Casey Trejeque

I wanted to do an update on Brad Huse’s first commit for the 2010 class Casey Trejeque for some time but I have been having a hard time finding a lot of current info on Trejeque over the summer. It appears that Trejeque did play much summer ball this past spring and summer so there was not a lot to report on the national internet site.

Just to review, Casey Trejeque is a 5-9 point guard, although I have seen him listed any where from 5-7 to 5-10, I am told by a friend that saw him recently that 5-9 is about right. Trejeque plays for Price high school in Los Angelis California. Price this year will also will feature two 4 star D-1 recruits this year in 2G Allen Crabbe, and, PF/C Richard Solomon both committed to U, of California. You can find more info on Casey in my original post on his commitment.

I talked to a friend who saw him play recently in and he thinks Trejaque, may be able to contribute as a freshman for the Bobcats. He is a pure point guard, and given his size it may take a while for his offence to adjust to the D-1 game but as a pure point guard he should be able to make an impact early in his career

ESPN just updated there recruiting bio on Casey Trejeque. They gave him a rating of 72 and ranked him as the #166 point guard in the nation. Here is what they had to say about Mr. Trejeque

October, 2009: Trejeque is an undersized point guard prospect for the low Division I level. Despite his size he has a lot of moxy and savvy for the point guard position. He has solid speed and quickness and he’s quite the shooter to boot. His shot is smooth out to the stripe and his release is solid. He can break down defenses off the dribble and he can get into the paint area. However, his lack of size could be problematic at the next level while trying to finish against most big men in the Big Sky. Despite not having ideal size, Trejeque has a solid feel for the game and a bevy of toughness to succeed at the next level.

Here is what ESPN’s rating means:

70-79: Major/Mid-Major Prospect

Player either can earn a scholarship to a top national Division I program or contribute significantly as a freshman at the mid-major level.

I believe Trejeque took his official trip to MSU this past week end, along with recent commit Chris McCall. I think those two will be teaming up for a very long time.
