2011 prospect Danny Little commits to Bobcats

Montana State Bobcats

Will Holden, of the Bozeman Chronicle, came up with this commit yesterday but I have a little to busy to comment on it but you may want to check out his Blog entry at the Chronicle for his original entry. Will has promised a follow up post on the commitment so you may want to check in on the Blog after he is back from Cheney covering the Montana State Football game today.

Danny Little of Billings Skyview has committed to play basketball for the Montana State basketball team. Little is currently a 6-8, 215 pound center/forward prospect who according Maxprep.com averaged 4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots a game while shooting 35% from the field and 65% from the line last year. He is known as a defensive skills though that his offensive skills. I believe he made an impression on the Bobcat basketball staff at their summer camp this year and that lead to an offer being put forward. Little would sign with the Bobcats in November of 2010, and first wear the Bobcat uniform for the 2011-12 season.

I did not see Little last year but I saw him a couple years ago, when he was a 6-6 freshman. Given his size as a freshman and some obvious developing skills (I thought he had real nice lateral movement for a big guy) I thought he might be a prospect in waiting. Still after tracking his very modest box scores last year I must admit my interest waned some. Obviously though the Bobcat coaching staff saw something they felt was very promising, to offer Little before the start of his junior year.

I do not believe any other D-1 programs are/were actively recruiting Little (but I am not 100% about that), but I think Brad Huse and his staff are making a strong statement about their commitment to recruiting Montana. Over the past few years they have recruited Bobby Howard of Great falls, Jeff Edwards of Butte, Colt Idol of Whitefish (walk-on), and Stephen Davis of Skyview (walk-on). Additionally they have also landed commitments from Blake Brumwell of Big Sandy and now Danny Little of Skyview. I believe the Bobcats are also actively recruiting 2011 recruit Kurtis Parson (CMR), and 2012 recruits, Riley Bradshaw (Corvallis) and Cody Carriger (Butte). Not to mention everyone in D-1 seems to be recruiting CMR’s Josh Huestis.

Needless to say I am going to need to put Davis on my watch list again.
