Douglas Benton of NorCalPreps.com (part of the Rivals.com network) is reporting that the Montana State football staff is recruiting Mark Borland of Santa Teresa high school in San Jose, California. The 6-1 200 pound Borland plays both the running back and linebacker position at Santa Teresa, but is primarily being recruited as a linebacker prospect. This season Santa Teresa is 2-0, and last sesason they were 10-0 in the regular sesason before losing in the first round in the play offs.
As a junior Benton had 81 tackles, 72 assists, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception and 2 fumble recoveries on the defencive side of the ball. On the offencive side he rushed for 386 yards with 3 rushing td’s, and 75 receiving yards with a single td. In his first two games this season, Borland has rushed for 264 yards and four touchdowns and tallied 35 total tackles. His physical stats are 4.8 in the 40 yard dash, 29.5” vertical jump and 8’-2” in the broad jump.
It is real early in his recruiting process but, currently receiving interest from Fresno State, San Jose State, Sacramento State, Montana State, Utah State and Cal Poly.
