I have heard that Rob Ash and his Montana State football staff are recruiting Anthony DeMatteo Skyline high school in Sammamish, Washington. DeMatteo is a 6-0 207 pound outside linebacker prospect that also played at on the offensive line. DeMatteo is also one of the better wrestling prospects in the State of Washington. I believe he will play football in college but he does have options.
Last year for Skyline high school he recorded 65 tackles, 44 assists, and 4 sacks. This summer he was named Linebacker MVP of the Northwest Elite Football / Rising Stars combine. He has also been ranked as a #50th prospect in the Scout.com Northwest top 50.
Here is an evaluation from last winter by Scout.com.
Skyline LB Anthony DeMatteo (2010) – This player has not gotten much attention but he was a huge factor for a Skyline defense that held Barrington to minimal success. DeMatteo was playing with a large cast on his right hand but it didn’t seem to hurt his effectiveness. He was consistently creating pressure in the backfield and making physical tackles. He almost had a pick for himself, but also made a hit on the Eagle quarterback to create one for a teammate. Listed at 6-foot and 190 pounds, DeMatteo does not have a lot of size but he makes up for it with intensity. He has another year to mature, and I would not be surprised to see him improve. I am not quite sure what his college future may look like but he had a great game for his team during a tough playoff match up.
DeMatteo is currently receiving recruiting interest from Hawaii, Montana State, Oregon, Washington, and Washington State.
