Rob Ash and his Montana State football staff are recruiting Alex Gordon of Alief Taylor high school in Houston Texas. Gordon is a 5-9 (although I have seen him listed at 5-8 also) 165 pound defensive back who has outstanding speed and great hands.
A track athlete he has personal bests of 43-3 in the triple jump, 16-11 in the long jump and 39.9 in the 300 meter hurdles. In more football friendly terms he runs a 4.5seconds in the 40.
I have not been able to find any stats on Gordon, but I am told that in the first game of the season last Saturday he turned in a dominating performance that turned some heads.
Scout.com lists his strengths as his Anticipation, Closing Speed, and Tackling Ability and, his area of improvements as his ability to change direction. They also had this evaluation of Gordon
Very sure-handed tackler who can wrap up an opponent and finish them off one on one. At times he does a good job of anticipating the play and knocking the ball down. Plays aggressively his end of the field and likes to hit.
I believe Gordon holds an offer from UTEP but, Montana State, New Mexico State, North Texas, and Northeastern State are showing a lot of interest.
