It seems every week I say that this will be a short post and then it turns out to be quite long. Well this one will be shorter than normal, I guarantee it. I wrote it first and then added this little introduction. I am learning!
- Most of the talk about Arizona State football on my Blog has been about Kalispell native Brock Osweiler, but another Montana player is making waves on the team, Helena High school product Matt Hustad. It appears Hustad is in line for a starting nod on the offensive line. The Arizona State O-line has been hit hard by the injury bug, and it has almost guaranteed the sophomore will be counted on to hold down the offensive line. When asked recently in a by Alex Espinoza of ASUDevils.com (part of the Rivals.com network) he had the following to say.
“It’s a work in progress,” Hustad said of the offensive line. “People are really going down right and left right now. We just really got to band together and make it through and try to get as familiar with each other as we can.”
- Josh Huestis recruitment continues. I understand he took an unofficial visit to Gonzaga a week or so ago, and I am told it went well. I do not believe that Gonzaga has offered yet, mainly because they have only 1-2 scholarships to give out this year and they surveying their need. Purely a guess on my part, but I have to believe if Gonzaga offers they will jump to the top of his list.
- Last week I did a little blurb on Quarterback Michael Lahey from Christian Brothers high school in Sacramento, California. About a day or two after that blurb Douglas Benton of NorCalPreps.com (part of the Rivals.com network) had an interview with Mr. Lahey. Lahey confirmed he is receiving the most interest from Sacramento State, UC Davis, Montana and Montana State with Utah and Oregon showing some interest. In describing himself he had the following to say.
“I’m more of a pocket passer, but I’m really good throwing on the run with sprints and play actions,” Lahey said of his play. He is clocked at a 4.68 40 time, a 4.28 shuttle time and a 31 inch vertical leap, he said.
- Hey with the fall comes the start of the beginning of the football season. Montana State will be on the road visiting Michigan State and Montana will be hosting Western State University at home. Both games are Saturday the 5th. Do yourself a favor and take a break from obsessing over basketball and check out a game this season in person. You will certainly enjoy it and the football team really could use the support.
