Bobcat Women’s basketball 2009-10 Roster

bussey

With classes scheduled to start in about a month I thought I would look at the current state of the four D-1 programs rosters. I plan to list all four in the next two days. This post will look at the Montana State Women’s team.

Again this is not the official roster but it but I believe that if one was posted today this is how it would look. Much like the men’s program, the entire women’s team spent the second summer session on campus and taking classes. Despite having two open scholarships, typically Binford does not usually fill those open scholarships with late signees instead she seems like to hold them for the next recruiting year, so I feel this roster list should be pretty accurate.

Roster

Katie Bussey                   5-9    guard/forward    sophomore
Janette Jackson            5-8    guard/forward     sophomore
Erica Perry                      5-4    point guard           senior
Lyndi Seidensticker    6-0    guard/forward      junior
Sarah Strand                   6-1    forward                    junior
Jamie Thornton             6-3    center                      senior
Beata Bak                          6-2    forward/center    junior
Ashley Albert                 6-1    forward                    freshman
Chelsea Banis                  6-3    center                       freshman
Rachel Semansky          6-0    forward                   freshman
Ally Schmitt                    5-7    point guard            freshman
Latisha Adams                5-9    guard/forward     freshman
Kelsey Roben                  5-11   guard forward      freshman

binfordHere is my projected stating line-up (As always I reserve the right to change my mind after seeing them in practice)

Starting Five

Point Guard – Erica Perry (returning starter)
Shooting Guard- Katie Bussey (returning starter)
Small Forward- Lyndi Seidensticker (returning part time starter)
Power Forward- Sarah Strand (returning starter)
Center- Beata Bak (but will be challenged by Thornton)

Back up

Point Guard- Ally Schmitt (groomed to be next years point)
Shooting Guard- Janette Jackson (could push for a starting spot at the small forward spot)
Small Forward- Latisha Adams
Power Forward- Ashley Albert
Center – Jamie Thornton

Mslacat’s comments
The point guard spot is a concern. Perry is one of if not the best point guard in the Big Sky, but after her there are some concerns about her back up or god forbid she goes down. Schmitt is a quality point guard recruit, but she has no D-1 experience, and Bussey can play the point if pushed but that could take away from her game. Schmitt needs to come through. Ashley Albert is going to be a great player for the Cats and has the skills to contribute right away in Binford’s system. Playing with Strand is going to help her immensely.
