Griz recruit: Will Davis

davisAs I have mentioned before the Griz coaches are looking hard at quite a few prospects from Bay Area Hoosiers, one of those players 6-8 forward Will Davis from Sacramento high school in Sacramento California. Sacramento high school’s 08-09 team featured somewhere around 6 to 7 players who will eventually play D-1 ball including Bay Area Hoosiers team mate and Bobcat recruit Travon Abraham.

Davis is a 6-8 200 pound combo forward who averaged 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks a game off the bench for Sacramento high school. Those surprised me as being quite low for a D-1 prospect, but they seem to be correct. Davis primarily plays the power forward spot but does swing to the small forward position. He is a pretty athletic player who has that new catch word among coaches length, which allows him to be a very good defender.

He is a kid that a lot of programs maybe recruiting him on potential. It will be interesting to see how he does this fall, when he will garner a starting spot and more minutes for Sacramento.

ESPN graded him with a 78, and had the following evaluation on Davis (it should be noted this eval. and rating are over a year old).

May, 2008: Davis was one of many intriguing underclassmen that emerged this weekend. He possesses a terrific frame with long arms and overall great length. He is far from a finished product, but there is a lot to work with here.

Along with Montana, Loyola Chicago, Santa Clara, Columbia, Harvard, Pacific, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Sacramento St., and UC Davis are showing interest in Davis. I would expect him to sign in the spring.
