Bobcats get third Commit

bildeThe Great falls Tribune is reporting that Big Sandy’s 6-8 ,240 power forward / center Blake Brumwell has commit to play for the Montana State Bobcats in the 2010-11 season. Brumwell averaged 21 points and 13 as a junior and 23 points and 14 boards as a sophomore. The Tribune points out that Brumwell is the first Big Sandy player to sign with Montana State since Doug Hashley in the early 80’s. Brumwell also points out that he grew up in the same house that Mr. Hashley did. There must be something about that house that bleeds Blue and Gold.

The word on Brumwell is that he is despite his 20 plus points a game average his strength is his rebounding. He seems to be one of those players who just has a knack for rebounding. His also has a body build in the mold of a Doug Hashley.

The commitment of Brumwell to MSU is not all that surprising. I had heard multiple rumors that it could be in the works. The word over here in Griz land was that is that they gave up even trying to scout / recruit Brumwell because it was clear he was on the Montana State side of the Bobcat / Griz equation. The biggest question mark in my mind lately was would he go basketball or football. As Will Holden reported earlier this week the Rob Ash’s Montana State football program were making a late push to acquire his services.

It should also be noted that Brumwell teammate Corbin Pearson a 6-5 small forward has received recruiting attention from local colleges including some D-1 attention, while fellow northern C team Winifred has 6-5 Joe Stulc who I think also may get some D-1 attention before all else is said and done.
