Odds and Ends – 7/06/09

MATTMILLER4_21150

Time for some miscellaneous odds and ends from last week.

  • Matt Miller was featured in articles in both the Rivals Arizona State site an d the Scout Boise State site. Both sites claim Miller has narrowed his college list to Arizona State, Boise State, Stanford, Oregon and Oregon State and has taken unofficial visits to all five out of eleven offers. Between the two articles the positions of wide receiver, tight end, linebacker and safety were all mentioned as possible college positions. They also indicate he is not in a hurry to make his choice.

Chaunice Powell, Point Guard – The first word which comes to mind when you watch Powell is potential. She displays great quickness and has great length to match. Those things alone helped her make sensational plays on both ends of the floor. She will slashed into the lane to hit a runner and pursued tough rebounds. On the other hand she would also commit some questionable mistakes with the ball. For her to take it to the next level she is going to have to develop some consistency to her game.

  • Blake Brumwell: In the Bozeman Chronicle Blue and Gold Blog, Will Holden posted that both that Brad Huse’s Men’s basketball team and Rob Ash’s Football team are battling over Big Sandy’s 6-8 245 pound Blake Brumwell. I had heard a few months back that neither the Bobcat nor Griz programs had offered Brumwell yet according to Will Holden report the Bobcats basketball as well as the football program have offered him. Check out the interview, he even has audio.
  • Shawn Reid: In my post about Shawn Reid committing to the Bobcat basketball program I forget to post a link to an article from the CDAPress.com.
  • Brad Wadlow: I do not know if you caught this but on Sunday Josh Hines of Ballslife.com stopped by my blog and had a comment of one of the Men’s basketball main targets of this summer and fall Brad Waldow. Here is what Hines had to say:

This boy can play. Even though his size he is more athletic than his opponents think. I went to the Sac State Team camp and he was by far the best player there by miles. He also has a very nice mid range game and he is pretty legitimate from the 3. I think that he would be a great addition to a high caliber D1 team. I’m watching him and he will be at the Double Pump Camp in L.A., the Three Stripes tournament directly after and the The Main Event in Las Vegas.

I believe the Bobcat coaches will be following his AAU quite closely over the July evaluation period.

  • Steve McLellan. I can not confirm it yet but the Griz faithful should keep an eye towards Steve McLellan a 6-6 combo forward from Edison high school in Fresno California. He plays on the Bay Area Hoosiers AAU team along with Griz recruits Thomas Frye, and John Green.
