Bobcat/Griz recruit: David Nguyen

I have heard that both the Griz and Bobcat’s are recruiting David Nguyen from Bellevue Washington high school. Nguyen is listed a running back and defensive back player in high school, but I believe is primarily being recruited as a running back by schools.

He is a 5-9, 190 pound back who shared duties with his older brother Peter who was the Bellevue featured back at Bellevue last season, but took the majority of the load when his brother was injured in a bus accident (a story in it self).

Bellevue won the State of Washington 3A state championship behind Nguyen brothers last season and is favored to be a power this coming season with many of the key cogs back for them.

Maxpreps have David’s stats reading 400 yards rushing on 20 carries and three touch downs. These stats are suspect at best because I have read David had 167 yard rushing along in the championship game (BTW his brother had 150 in the same game) and 120 yards in one of their play off games.

I hear Montana has been on David Nguyen, much longer than Montana State, but additionally Boise State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, and San Diego are also recruiting him.

Also I believe that David’s older brother, Peter, is now on the Griz roster. So that could certainly be a reason why he’s been on UM’s roster for a while.
