Griz FB recruit: Connor Halliday

Halliday

It is being reported on scout.com and Rivals.com that Bobby Hauck’s Griz coaching staff is recruiting Connor Halliday from Ferris high school in Spokane Washington. Halliday is a 6-5 185 pound quarter back who went 170-of-286 for 2,366 yards with 20 touchdowns in 11 games his junior year at Ferris high school. Scout .com has him listed as a 3 star prospect while Rivals has him listed as a single star prospect.

ESPN gives him a rating of 67, and gave him the following evaluation:

Halliday is a pocket passer in the shotgun spread offense and is an efficient player in the short and intermediate passing game. He is a touch and timing passer with good rhythm and displays solid overall accuracy. He has good size and is capable of seeing the field out of the shotgun. He does a nice job of getting rid of the ball on time and throws a “catchable” ball on underneath routes putting the ball in proper placement. He shows adequate-to-good arm strength and enough power to make intermediate throws outside of the numbers if on time and his feet are set. He shows very good touch on the deep ball, but not great power and velocity to stretch the field consistently. Halliday can get rid of the ball quickly, but has a very low release point and this negates his quality size. Ball comes out with a 3/4 delivery and he is subject to getting balls batted down at the line of scrimmage. He is a balanced passer in the pocket and shows good poise, but is not a guy that will create a lot of plays when things break down. He is a decent athlete for the position, but we would not call him a dual-threat or scrambler. Needs to be efficient with timing and footwork and be protected to have a chance to be at his best. Overall, Halliday is an adequate prospect with redeeming qualities and may be a better fit for the lower level non-BCS conferences.

Halliday holds offers from Idaho, Montana Eastern Washington, and Hawaii, but his recruiting stock is rising and Washington State Northwestern Boise State Arizona State and Oregon State are showing a lot of interest lately

Update:  Scout.com is reporting that Washington State offered Halliday this past week-end
