What is up with the Griz

w tinkle

A complete lock down on information is in effect that Bill Belichick would be proud of. I will be honest most of my sources with the Griz basketball coming and goings either know close to nothing or have been sworn to secrecy on the threat of losing their first born. Even on the internet, and sources outside of Montana have been deathly silent on Griz recruiting news, either this year or just in general. I have been averaging two Bobcat recruiting tidbits a day for about a week now, and I am feeling rather guilt that I can not come up with hardly anything Griz related. I have one more Bobcat recruiting tidbit written and almost in the can, that I felt too guilty about posting with out some Griz news. So here are some small morsels of rumor I am hearing.

  • Do not ask Wayne Tinkle what is up with recruiting unless you are wearing your winter sweater, because it will get real cold quick- and that advice is from more than one person.
  • I have heard that the Griz have at least one commit, and I believe it is Raason Young
  • The Griz have offered a scholarship to 6-2 point guard Marcus Tibbs of Deucator Washington, if he can get cleared by the NCAA clearing house. That will not happen until July. The Griz might not have a scholarship then. If so he will enroll at Northern Idaho JC and may look to sign with the Griz next fall, or so he hopes.
  • On who is leaving, and at least one player is, it would be a shorter list right now to list the player who I have not heard a rumor about leaving than those who I have. The hint I will give look at who he does sign in the spring period, and ask yourself why he felt he had to sign him, who the signing will affect.
  • A source told me he thought the Griz had a commit from a Point guard, and the guy who I thought it was, JC Steven Bennett, just signed with Chaminade U. in Hawaii so if they did, I have no idea who it could be.

Stay tuned, to your local official Griz information outlet, I think news should be announced in the next 7 days’
