Update on Lady Griz fall signies

I thought I might do an update on the Lady Griz fall signies. I don’t think the Griz are have filled out all of their scholarships yet, and could sign one more this spring, but so far this looks like a very strong class for the Griz. I have done the best I could to get as much current stat info on these players but for whatever reason stat info is harder to come by in the women’s games. I believe my stats are very close but may have changes a little by the end of the season.

Kenzie De Boer

Baker is a 6-0 forward from Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy, in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. She originally was born in Hamilton but her family moved to Idaho when she was young(er). She averaged 21.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots a game and is a two time Idaho Gatorade player of the year. She played the post in high school but is projected as a small forward in college. She is a very good 3 point shooter, and has decent ball skills, which should help her in the transition. She has a rating of 40 (which means they have not seen her) by ESPN/ Hoop Gurlz and no national rating, but in my opinion could be the star in this class so far.

Alyssa is a 6-0 forward from Archbishop Murphy high school in Monroe Washington. Murphy has been ranked #2 the class 2A almost all season. She averaged 10 points a game on a team that had 4 players who averaged between 8 and 11 points a game. She was also voted the Cascade Conference player of the year. Smith is projected as a power forward in college but may see some time at the small forward spot. She has a rating of 83 by ESPN/ Hoop Gurlz and ranked as the # 52 forward in the country

Here is a nice article on her:

Kenzie is 5-11 guard from Lynden Christian high school in Lynden Washington. Her high school plays in Washington 1A class. She averaged about 19 points a game, but is also known as a defensive stopper averaging 3+ steals a game. She is projected as a shooting guard but could also play at the small forward. She has a rating of 69 by ESPN/ Hoop Gurlz and ranked as the # 97 guard in the country

Here is a nice article on her:

This is a one of the better classes in some time, for a coach who is used to having top recruiting classes in the Big Sky conference. I think the Griz are looking for a center in the spring, but could also sign a guard.

Future Triva: If the Lady Griz do not sign a Montana player this spring, I believe the lady Griz 2009 recruiting class will be the first class since at least 1980 where Robin Selvig has not signed at least one Montana player.
