Update on Montana signies Hutchison and Woods

Eric Hutchison’s (6-8 , 225) Mark Morris team is 20-2 heading into the Washington 2A tourney, and is ranked #2 in the state. He is averaging 12 points, 7 rebounds a game for a team that goes 6-10, 6-9, and 6-8 across the front line. Hutchison really made a name for himself last summer on the AAU circuit. His rep is as a player who has all the tools to a very good D-1 player, he runs the floor extremely well has good hands and good instincts. Despite this he is needs some coaching to put it all together. At worse he will be a journey man Big Sky player. With some development (aggressiveness) he could be could be an all conference type player early in his career.

Thurmond Woods (6-5, 210) was ruled ineligible to play varsity ball this year because he is a 5th year senior. He is an undersized power forward right now who need, to improve his ball, and shooting skills to play his projected college position (small forward). Woods is a very explosive athlete and a tireless worker, who also plays a physical defensive game. I can see him being a very physical crowd pleasing player for the Griz. It will be interesting to see how Nyandigisi Moikobu and Woods develop in the Griz program, since they are essentially the same player. Moikobu, is taller, but Woods is more physical and has better skills. Do not be surprised if with Woods joining the Griz, Moikobu moves back to the power forward spot. I have been told as of a few weeks ago that Woods has not been cleared, by the NCAA Clearing House, and that there are still some issues that need to be resolved.
